A more accessible and less heavy-handed movie than Ang Lee's 2003 Hulk, Louis Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk is a purely popcorn love affair with Marvel's raging, green superhero, as well as the old television series starring Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the beast within him. Edward Norton takes up where Eric Bana left off in Lee's version, playing Bruce (that's the character's original name) Banner, a haunted scientist always on the move. Trying to eliminate the effects of a military experiment that turns him into the Hulk whenever his emotions get the better of him, Banner is hiding out in Brazil at the film's beginning. Working in a bottling plant and communicating via email with an unidentified professor who thinks he can help, Banner goes postal when General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and a small army turn up to grab him. Intent on developing whatever causes Banner's metamorphoses into a weapon, Ross brings along a quietly deranged soldier named Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth), who wants Ross to turn him into a supersoldier who can take on the Hulk. The adventure spreads to the U.S., where Banner hooks up with his old lover (and Ross' daughter), Betty (Liv Tyler), and where the Hulk takes on several armed assaults, including one in a pretty unusual location: a college campus. The film's action is impressive, though the computer-generated creature is disappointingly cartoonish, and a second monster turning up late in the movie looks even cheesier. Norton is largely wasted in the film--he's essentially a bridge between sequences where he disappears and the Hulk rampages around. As good an actor as he is, Norton doesn't have the charisma here to carry those scenes in which one waits impatiently for the real show to begin. --Tom Keogh

Watched this and was quite impressed. Brazil looks a depressing place though :?
I liked the mentions of Stark and Fury in the opening scene, plus it was good to see Stan Lee and Lou Ferringo get bigger cameo's. And there was even the line: Dont make me angry, you would'nt like me when I'm angry. Well, almost :D
I thought Abomination was great. Roth played the part of a soldier getting more and more obsessed very well. Norton was good, not sure who played the part better to be honest. Both him and Bana can play the worried monster inside me part well.

The Stark cameo at the end was good. Wonder what Iron man, Thor, Capt. America + will look like on screen together.

Blu Ray wise, it was a very good picture but again difficult to know if it was much of an improvement over DVD. Sound was very quiet, had to ramp it up a bit for the dialogue and then the effects were very loud.
Definatley rewatchable if your a comic lover.

I didnt see this movie when it was released, just never got round to it. But, being a movie buff and a Hulk fan from the late 1970s, I decided to purchase this anyway, especially on Blu Ray.

Now, what I liked about this version, which is far superior to the original Ang Lee version from about 5 years ago, is that the action scenes are quite simply awesome!!! Moreover, the storyline is much better and flows to a great all action end sequence between the Hulk and the Abomination, sequences which have to be seen to be believed! And being on Blu Ray, the picture detail is quite simply out of this world!!

The story centres around Bruce Banner(Ed Norton) who has hidden himself away in the Brazilian jungle to avoid the american military led by a general (William Hurt)who wants to use the Hulk as a weapon. Bruce desperatly wants to find a way to contain and control the terrible rages which causes him to change into the Hulk. He also wants to be reconciled with the love of his life, (Liv Tyler) who has been trying to find a cure, but without success.

There isnt a great deal more to say about the plot, so all it needs to be said is that the action sequences are some of the best ever seen in a movie. Movie buffs and action fans are in for a treat, and if you have a Surround Sound Home Cinema set up capable of delivering 5:1 Audio and upwards, then it makes this purchase even better.

I noticed some reviewers have complained about problems with the disc. This is because of the very high resolution which the blu ray disc generates. Therefore you need to update the firmware/software on the machine. I have recently purchased the Sony BD 350 which is a great player and can be bought for less than ??200 and contains updated firmware which allows new discs to be played without any glitches.

It's a real High definition experience! It's a wonderful show, "du grand spectacle" in French.
But I'm disappointed there is no french subtitles why?? It's a Blu ray with 50 Go but no place for French subtitles.

When I sat down to watch this movie, I had no real expectations as the last Hulk movie was very poor, however with the recent spate of excellent Marvel films I was keeping my fingers crossed. Firstly I must say this was a huge improvement from the movie a few years back. The CGI was a lot less obvious and the movie had a much fuller story. Nice cameo from Lou Ferrigno as the security guard and of course Stan Lee. Looked good on Blu Ray, however not as much for me as Iron Man. Major downside for me was Liv Tyler, just didn't find her at all convincing.... to girly, breathless and pouting for a top scientist. I have to admit that I have not had the same issues on the Blu ray as some of the others here. Summary is good movie, just not quite up there with Iron Man and the Dark Knight

The film was OK, but just that. However, the main reason I am writing this review is to warn potential buyers that this disk seems to have latest-technology content on it. The titles etc. played on my Samsung BD-P1400 OK but the film refused to play. However, I did get the film to play, eventually, by downloading and installing the latest firmware.

So, for Samsung BD-P1400 owner's, at least. Get the latest firmware first.
