Chelsea Season Review DVD 2007/08

The 2007/08 season proved to be a rollercoaster ride full of conflicting emotions for all the players and fans at Chelsea FC. The Blues took the Premier League title to the wire, reached their first-ever UEFA Champions League Final and played at the Carling Cup Final at Wembley.

Off-the-field events were equally dramatic with Jose Mourinho replaced as manager by Avram Grant.

The last few season reviews have had the luxury of a happy ending with a trophy or two to savour. That said, it hasn't always been of the best quality (last years was the worst for twenty years!). It was with a little trepidation that I realised the same company that butchered last years review had produced this one. Nevertheless, it's a solid effort with little to quibble over apart from no mention or images of any sending offs (including Drogba's slap in the CL final). The match commentary is a mixture of Chelsea TV and Setanta's coverage throughout which is an improvement so I would urge all true fans to buy with confidence

Mr D Bell writes an absolutely pathetic review. The DVD isn't released yet and he gives it one star. Perhaps he has no affinity to his team but I have supported Chelsea since 1970 and have season review videos & DVD's going back to 1988. They provide a history of the team as well as the great players, goals and saves. Yes Chelsea didn't win anything this season but went to the wire in 3 of the 4 competitions they competed in. I for one will buy the DVD, not because of success or failure to win but to remind me of my great team. Perhaps Mr Bell is confusing some people with glory hunters who, I'm sure, will be queuing up to buy the ManU DVD. I suggest he waits until he sees the DVD before passing comment or stick to whichever team it is he supports.

Every one of these DVDs that is sold proves that fans will buy any old rubbish associated with their club. I am a fan of a league one club so I have no bias towards any premier club and this is not an attack on Chelsea. However, I have to question why anyone would want a DVD which could be marketed under the tag line "the season we won NOTHING". That's right, a whole DVD devoted to a season with no glory whatsoever. As the quote goes "second place is the first of the losers". Save some money and wait for a review when something WAS one, now that would be worth keeping.
