I received the box-set but disc one of series one had episodes 4-6 on it despite being labelled as having episodes 1-3. Therefore half of series 1 is missing from the set. Amazon have been really good about it and refunded my money because they are unable to supply a replacement. I would be careful ordering this and make sure you check the discs as soon as you receive them to ensure you have all the correct episodes. I note someone else had the same problem so maybe an early version was defective?

The series concerns three football crazy brothers who live in a claustrophobically close-knit group with their attached women and friends-from-childhood. The main story line describes their failed attempts to break free of this mutual dependency which is wrecking their love life and friendships and hindering them in their career choices. As soap operas go this is well constructed and well acted and eventually leads to reasonably satisfactory conclusions. The one character who gives real dramatic credibility to the whole is the intelligent middle brother Mark (Damian Lewis) a school-teacher who uses more than his blind emotions to guide his decisions but, in spite of his best efforts, is betrayed by his self-pitying wife and his attractive but stupid brother. He is the one who walks away from the sorry mess -- at the end of part one which means that part two, though entertaining is less dramatically coherent. Sarah Parish brings her usual edge to the least soppy of the female characters. The best scene was Mark chasing a rat with an umbrella and getting electrocuted. I was able to sit through the entire 4 discs on a long wet bank-holiday week-end so it can't be too bad.

I was really happy to finally get this on DVD. But too my disgust I had major problems with it. The 1st series DVD had the same 3 episodes on it. Amazom have been good, but im so disappointed in not getting to see the 1st series, if anyone can help me with this it would be appreciated as I live in New Zealand. Looks like someone has had the same problem in NZ as well. Amazon have been good, but would still like to see the 4-6 episodes of the 1st series'

I've been waiting for this one to appear for years. It's the only TV drama ever to have me watching and crying at the same time. Many nerves struck. As for the actors, some of the finest talent of their generation.
