With the introduction of Law and Order's second longest serving cast member; Jack McCoy, played by Sam Waterston, you just can't help but want more! Season Five has got to be the greatest season of the show available on DVD; the cast is great, including; Jerry Orbach, Sam Waterston, Chris Noth, Jill Hennessey, Steven Hill and S.Epatha Merkersen.
Although containing no bonuses as usual, season five is absolutely impressive, reaching it's 100th episode this season, this is a must buy!

This is the very strong show and I would say that this is a very consistent collection of episodes. I don't think there were any particularly great episodes unlike the previous years but it might be a bit more consistent in overall quality.

It's as worth buying as any other season in this excellent series, although at a pinch perhaps season 4 had a few more standout episodes.

This is the final season starring Chris Noth as Detective Logan. He turned up about 10 years later as a cast member of Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

Dann Florek turns up for the first time in one episode as Detective Donald Cragen.

Season 4 had some boring to watch extended and deleted scenes. This season has no extras.

Have long been a Sam Waterston fan but he excels as the charismatic Jack McCoy.
From start to finish there is no let up, no personal lives of the characters to get in the way of the plots.
Jerry Orbach and Sam Waterston, what a combination.
This beats all other crime shows into a cocked hat.

I'm sorry everyone is upset about lack of English subtitles and I can understand your frustration, but I feel obliged to say a few words about the actual episodes. I've just watched this and they are as good as any other series, all of which are excellent. I was gripped the whole time. If you like the other stuff you will like this. The best crime series ever. Bar none.

I am a native English speaker, yet I too use English subtitles. They allow me to view with the volume way down so as not to wake the kiddo and, I've got to admit, keep up with the legalese. Does Amazon have an Ombudsman? If so, please step in and contact the manufacturers!

Have to give it four stars, though. The Hennessy - Waterston combination is one of the best legal teams on TV! Hated to see Hennessy go.
