It???s easy to see why there was so much fighting amongst the console manufacturers to try and make this game a format exclusive. Where early launch titles may have disappointed this game not only looks like a next generation game but it plays like it too. Taken at face value the story casts you as an Arabic fighter in 1191, out to assassinate the nine Western leaders of the Third Crusade. There is more to the story than that though making it more than simple historical adventure it first seems.

Since it???s developed by many of the same team behind Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, it???s no surprise to find the game using many of the same ideas. With the bold claim that you can climb on or over anything in the game world that sticks out more than two inches, this allows incredible freedom of movement, with a style of acrobatics heavily influenced by Parkour/free running. The game also innovates in terms of combat, with each of the face buttons controlling a different area of the body, rather like a marionette. As such one button controls the feet, one your open hand, one your weapon hand and the other your head.

As an assassin stealth plays an important role in the game too, but here it???s often a case of hiding in plain sight as you mill around inside large crowds of people. Everyone will react to you realistically though, so if you go around pushing people out of the way, or even killing them, the crowd will react and report you. With stunning graphics and genuinely innovative gameplay this is destined to be one of the most important releases of the year.

This game is very fun, especially running across rooftops and swinging from bulding to building. But towards the beginning its sooooo boring! The cutscenes are boring, the tutorial is pointless because during the game all you get is how to do a specific thing which is what it did in the tutorial. You cant skip the cutscenes, which sucks. I dont care about the story, i just wanna play!

Plot: Great story. I was expecting alot from this game due to the time era its set in and i have to admit it exceeded my expectations by a long way. Unlike some games that seem to know the story themselves but forget to tell you it, I think this game really lets you know why your doing stuff instead of just telling you to do it. It never leaves you behind. The story kept making me want to keep coming back for more to see what was going to happen next.

Graphics: Definitely the best graphics i have seen for quite some while. I liked the way that unlike some games where they leave little bits hoping you wont notice, the creators made sure everything was looking like it should do. From a basket to an entire building its all been done well.

Sound: The way when you run past someone you can hear them shout something really makes the game what it is.

Controls: I admit i prefer the arrow keys to the WASD keys so had to alter everything to match how i play however, this didnt take me long and after a little while the controls soon sunk in and although challenging enough to do, its still quite easy to get to grips with.

Overall opinion: Really recommend this game for anyone that just has a slight interest in history, hack n slash or a really good story. Not many games make me want to play them at every chance i get like this one did.

you play a character called Altair who was a master assassin, striped of his rank and stabbed for his betrayl for exposing the secretive guild to the english army shortly after its defeat, you awaken from inside a machine called the animus which activates certain genetic memories that has been repressed over the years and makes you live what your ancestors did and saw, you real character was an assassin but left and became a bar worker, you have been kidnapped for information on several devices that have been spread over the world that contains information critical to another guild. soon enough you kill 9 people that in our real world died of unknown causes in the holy land some thousand or so years ago. you also see betrayl from 2 characters both in real world and in the memories afterwards.

the storyline aside, the 2 stars for fun is the repetitive nature of the game, it's always collect information before killing the person in question who are some how affiliated with the other guild. killing guards, helping citizens for help later on after your assassination attempt. which is always the same motto throughout the game, until the last few you have to kill, but basically having to kill someone or something before the boss person. climbing up buildings to get a view of the area your in, in question and your not allowed to explore certain places until you completed your mission. their are a few bugs of note which you will encounter including one in acre near the docks where you need an overview, there is a hay bail below, but strangely that tower jump was not configured properly and you will land next to it on the floor next the hay bail and dead, for an example.

the overall game got 3 stars, the graphics aside it's not worth your time and patience and money. your better off playing the old thief games, 1 and 2 as they provide better for assassination attempts from around the same era with exception to the strange magically lights and lamps throughout the city.

Absolutely topnotch fun, gotta love the fighting animation and the beautiful panoramic views. Runs great on 4870X2 everything full res and settings.

the end was kinda sudden.. didnt want it to finish, but one ill play again in the future without any aggro from DRM limited activations...

Thanks for a great game Ubi, EA should pay attention when their shares plummet from their evil DRM.

Graphics: stunning!
Sound: immersing!
Action, Acrobatics, Reaction of the Environment and the NPCs: So good, it could make a grown man weep...

Um
Story: well, yes, there is one.

OK, I'll be honest, I expected something different. The stealth and subtlety was blatantly lacking. Yes, you can blend. yes, you can crouch. But not in broad blazing sunshine!

The plot leaves a lot to be desired, but apart from that, our Hero leaves such a very gory trail of corpses, it hard to imagine how he could not be known over the four corners of his world. Yes, I do realize that this is an assassin. But he ignores his own concept of Integrity and murders people left and right.
All in all, I miss the Man who said "The soldier in front of me is not the enemy. He's just a man who does his job and wants to get home to his wife."
