There are a lot of broad comedies about men refusing to grow up, but few have the sly bite of You, Me and Dupree. Even though Carl (Matt Dillon, Crash, There's Something About Mary) is newly married to Molly (Kate Hudson, Almost Famous, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days), when his best friend Dupree (Owen Wilson, Wedding Crashers, The Life Aquatic) ends up homeless, Carl invites Dupree into their house--in which Dupree promptly makes himself at home, culminating in setting the place on fire during lurid sex. But though he's trapped between his wife and his best friend, Carl may have bigger problems as his boss--and father-in-law--hates him and is sneakily working against his marriage. You, Me and Dupree seems at first glance to be a frat-boy farce about men being emasculated by their wives, but the well-written script, guided with a sure hand by director team Joe and Anthony Russo (who each directed episodes of the top-notch TV series Arrested Development), successfully walks a treacherous path between multi-layered characters and comic events, and is all the funnier as a result. Michael Douglas (Wonder Boys, Fatal Attraction) turns in a sharp, nasty performance as Molly's overly-possessive father. Also featuring Seth Rogen (The 40 Year Old Virgin). --Bret Fetzer

Much slated at the time of its release, You, Me & Dupree is actually very good indeed. The story is simple. Thirty-something slacker Dupree moves in with his recently married best friend and promptly causes all manner of bedlam, much to the annoyance of the newlyweds. Of course, the whole thing ends happily and - it must be said - predictably, but what carries the film along is an utterly charming performance by the star of the show - Owen Wilson. In probably his finest screen outing, the mop-topped maestro wins one over with an innocent charm not seen on screen since Will Ferrell's delightful star turn in "Elf". It is a film to make the even the hardest cynic dust himself down and start believing again.

moderatly funny comedy that never gets in to first gear, its not bad the performances are good and the film has its moments but ultimatly its a bit bland

Substandard dribble. Usually Owen Wilson, Matt Dillon and Kate Hudson usually shine in romantic comedies and funny situations but this really was drained of all comedic moments and hilarity. After watching it three times (to try and give it a chance) I still can't really pin point any hilarious moment I liked in this movie whatsoever.

One star, and that's optimistic.

This is an average romantic comedy, with some straightforward humor and a simple and predictable story. If you are looking for some mindless entertainment, then it is an option worth considering, but if you are looking for something more, you will have to look elsewhere. The story has to do with two newly-weds, Carl and Molly, who allow the best man at the wedding, Dupree, to live with them for a while after he loses his job. Dupree is the typical irresponsible guy that gets in all kinds of ridiculous situations and soon overstays his welcome.

Some of the situations are funnier than others, and the viewer gets the typical Owen Wilson style of humor. However, the actor is not at the level of some of his other films, like "Wedding Crashers", but it is not bad either. The rest of the cast does a decent job, from Kate Hudson, the lovely and caring wife, to Michael Douglas, the despicable father-in-law and Carl's boss.

Those people that do not enjoy Wilson's work should definitely stay away from this one. For the rest, if you decide to go ahead and watch it, do not expect all that much.
