Get the bucket ready... Grease 2 has been made of Cheese! - Reviewed on 2008-07-29

Grease 2 is an unfortunate case of carrying on from reputation, without putting any thought into what originally made the first film so special. The acting is lamer than Jean Claude Van Damme killing 20 soldiers with 2 bullets - AVOID!

When I wax lyrical about Grease 2, as I often do, I am generally met with cries of "But it's awful!", "It's the worst film ever!", "Why are you saying these things?!" and so forth. And yes, it is terrible. Grease 2 is truly terrible. It is badly made, badly written, badly acted, generally quite ridiculous and not a patch on its predecessor (though predecessor is really an exaggeration; they only share a couple of minor cast-members) - but that's why it's so funny! This is sheer, unadulterated tack; the mother of all B-Movies. I like to think the people behind it were tortured geniuses reveling in the delightful irony of their pitiful creation, but it's likely they just were just idiots. This will disgust around 99.99999% of the population but for those of us who for some reason enjoy seeing a bunch of 20-somethings prance about and burst (badly) into song, this is cinematic gold.

This film is TV gold; admittedly, it is no Grease, but it does not pretend to be. It is very tongue-in-cheek and laugh-out-loud (at, rather than with, perhaps). I wouldn't expect everyone to 'get' it (never underestimate the bad taste of the general public), but if you're a true child of the 80s you can't help but love it.

Did you love the origional "Grease"? Fall in love with the great songs, acting and stars that made it the best musical of the last 30 years? If the answer is yes then let me save you the cringing pain of viewing this awful, awful sequel. Hardly any of the origional cast, save Frenchie, had the nerve to appear in this abyssmal attempt at a cash-in. Instantly forgetable songs coupled with American soap opera grade acting make this a painful watch. Michelle Pfeiffer may have starred but this is one film she won't want attatched to her c.v. A prime contender for the worst sequel ever, if not the worst film. Some films are so bad that they are good but this pile of poop goes way beyond that and ends up in the "Two hours of my life that have been worst spent" category.
