Brilliant TV for all ages - Reviewed on 2006-07-08

The Tribe is surely one of the best shows ever made for kids. It has exciting stories, moral dilemmas, romances, great costumes, cool make-up, individual characters with real personalities, and emotional depth. And best of all, it has no adults!

This set conatins all 52 half-hour episodes from Series 2, which picks up from exactly where series 1 left off. Unfortunately, it is not quite as good as series 1 for various reasons, perhaps the most obvious one being the absence of one of the most amusing characters, Zandra, and one of the most likeable characters, Amber. Amber's replacement with a far inferior and quite frankly annoying girl called Danni, who takes over Amber's job as tribe leader and also her relationship with Bray, is not a success (which explains why Amber returns in series 3 and Danni does not).

Series 2 also has the unfortunate job of showing the Mallrats as they drift away from each other, their close family-like relationships disappearing as they follow their own desires. This means there is less of a sense of fun and solidarity, but thankfully the group begin to come back together in the final episodes. Another arguably bad point is the intense focus on Ebony as she becomes co-leader of the Mallrats. I personally didn't like this development and feel much happier when Ebony is on the other side rather than leading the Mallrats, but some people might enjoy the storyline.

However there are lots of good things about series 2 as well. Worth mentioning are the excellent acting from Caleb Ross as Lex, who gets some bigger storylines this series; the interesting storyline involving Trudy and the evil new tribe The Chosen; and also the flashbacks that are shown in a couple of episodes to explain the connections that Trudy, Bray, Ebony, Zoot, Lex and Ryan had before the virus hit. The flashbacks make really interesting viewing and it becomes a lot easier to make sense of the various relationships in the tribe after seeing them.

Even though I didn't enjoy series 2 as much as 1 or 3, The tribe is still a fantastic programme and this is a set well worth getting. The viewing is addictive - if you watch one episode, you'll end up watching another 3 afterwards. There are few children's or teen's TV shows which have so many tense plotlines and brilliantly portrayed relationships, and I'd recommend this show to anyone. I'd say the age range most likely to enjoy it is probably from about 9 to 20.

Special features include outtakes, character profiles, and a Tribe on Tour feature. Word of warning - don't watch the outtakes if you don't want plot details of series 4 revealed, as all the outtakes are taken from that series.
This Series Is Even Better Than The First! - Reviewed on 2006-04-11

In this series, The Tribe developed so much! The actors were more aqquainted with their characters, the storyline constantly built up each episode up to the big climax!

The only downside was - and I think everyone will agree with me - the fact that they removed Amber and replaced her with Dippy Danni! She's was a shadow to what Amber was! But I count my blessings that she was only in 1 series, haha!

This series focused on The Chosen - a deadly tribe wishing to brainwash the city about Zoot (The late leader of the Loco's in the 1st series).
They brainwash a member of the tribe (Trudy and her baby daughter Brady) they are a vital part of the chosens plan to complete the family for Zoot (they call Trudy 'the supreme mother' and Brady 'the wonder child')

Despite that, it shows the continuation of how the Mall Rats find the antidote for the virus.

All in all, the acting got better, each episode got you hooked and making you crave for more!

Buy this and experience everything I just told you!

How could u not love the tribe, i am from australia and one of very few who have seen it but i would consider myself australias Number 1 Tribe fan. I cannot wait to buy the rest of the Episodes when they are released on DVD, i mean mad max meets lord of the flies drama, backstabbing, hilarious moments and fast paced story lines. Reccomend the Tribe to anyone who hasnt seen it. Seriously addictive watching!!!!

well..
i'm from germany and i can't speak enqlish very well.. but i must say some words to this season/series! its the best i ever seen! well, in my opinien season 2 is not the best but its awesome anyway! there are lots of new styles and characters like alice and ellie, the lines are better written than in series 1 and the storys are more interesting (okay..all storys from the tribe are awesome ;D), the storys before the virus came was interesting, too. in fact series 2 is a very cool series. in my opinion series 3 is the best, maybe because amber is my favourite character and in series 2 there is no amber? dunno ^^ series 2 is still a important part of the tribe and the tribe is the best series of the whole world anyway ;D
bad.. i haven't this dvd yet, but i hope it come soon in germany? but i musn't have the dvd to say that its awesome :D
the tribe 4 eva!
stay tribal and keep the dream alive!
Is it really Region 2? - Reviewed on 2006-03-15

Series 1 was listed as Region 2 but was really Region 0 (No restrictions). I live in the U.S. and am able to enjoy it on my dvd player (It's region 1, but PAL compatible).

I'm hoping they did the same thing with Series 2.

I've got several people that I got hooked on the show who are desperately waiting to see what happened at the observatory.
