Why do women put on lip-gloss? Answers can include but are not limited only to: it makes them look biger, shiner, smooth and if used daily, it can become habit forming.
Footballers Wives is 'lip-gloss applied, tabloid soaked television.' It is exuberant and definately a trashy poke at the immoratlity of the beautiful game itself, only its main focus of attention centres mainly arround the women, and football is more like a sub-plot.
Everything is bigger, better and done in utter distaste. Tanya (played by celebrity Chav Zoe Lucker) takes charge with her shameless and often outrageous behaviour. Sadly although it is a show about women, and i am assuming not aimed at guys who actually take an interst in football, it cateers to a hybrid audience, and this is where it falls flat.
Camp, bitchy, heated, ridiculous fashions-it is the Dynasty of Shed productions. Therefore why are the female nudity scenes and sexual content so eye-grabbing? Possibly because this programme is actually aimed at men-as much as women.
Something for everyone, but not for all the family. Series highlights include fake tanning a new born baby, a psychotic doctor, unhinged Amber and Tanya's spectacular downfall.
Possibly marred by the arrival of Desparate Housewives, this show is well established now, since as it has already gone into a fifth season, however, i do not think it is capable to ever cultivate the image of anything other than pure television trash, that may be a guilt pleasure...but it really is rather satisfying

Look, this is total, total trash. But revel in it. It's glossy, silly, out-and-out escapism. And you'll never have so much fun unless you get to star in one of those Sparks shower scenes yourself :-). Sometimes it gets so embarrassing you have to jump behind the Versace-upholstered sofa. On DVD it's not something you can watch over and over again, 'cos there 'aint any new layers of meaning, exactly, to explore. Characters and themes get dropped from episode to episode like tubs of popcorn at a Saturday matinee. But all the characters are buff, bad and broody. What more do you want?

Well what can i say? this is a must for trash TV lovers. the reason i brought this DVD was because i loved the series that is on TV at the moment (series 5). This DVD only has photo gallarie as a extra but dont let that put you off buying it. this is one of the best series of the hit show. there are 3 disks and the menu screen is fabulous. If you have ever dreamed of being a footballers wife, watch this and you will enjoy every moment of it.

Beginning with Episode #5 I realized how integral Zoe Lucker is to FW. I still enjoyed the 4th Series, but gotta knock it down to 4 stars for losing Zoe half way through and replacing her with drippy Lucy. Still an overall great production and Thank God Hazel Baily (Alison Newman) remained through the end.

Footballers wives Series 4 is finally here, and focuses on the lives of the women who "are so bitchy they make the women in Desperate Housewives look like a Jane Austen sewing circle" and who's husbands play for Earls Park FC.
Coke-snorting uber bitch, Tanya Turner has doubts as to weather her child is her lover, and captin of the team Conrads, or her late husband Frank's. Conrad's soon to be ex wife, Amber is also heavily pregnant, and Tanya is going to make sure that both births (which happen at exactly the same time!) go without a hitch- by bringing back an old friend from the past...
New signing Bruno Milligan has just arrived and is enjoying a team vacation in Spain with the rest of the lads- however things are interrupted when a club rep claims one of the team took advantage of her.
Back in England, Lucy Milligan is having a party with the other wives- desperate to escape Brunos vicious streak.
Harley and his Page 3 model girlfriend are still on a break, and things dont exactly go smoothly when he returns from Spain... and the rape alligations increase pointing the finger of blame in an unexpected direction...
The rest of the series includes the usual black mail, sex, violence, diamonds, and scheeming, and ofcourse, the infamous 'bombshell' which Amber drops at baby Troys christening- which was nominated for 'Most Memorable TV moment of 2005'
Also including a cameo from Peter Andre as Amber's record producer Footballers Wives Season 4 is not to be missed!
This is the Ultimate TV show for any drama lover, so buy the DVD which is taking America by storm!
