A truly great, hilarious, witty, and intelligent comedy.
This is the only sitcom where almost every line of dialogue is a punchline/wisecrack. The plot is dense, and the scenes move quickly, making repeat viewings essential.
All the cast are terrific, most notaly Will Arnett as the conniving/stupid magician (sorry, 'Illusionist') Gob.

Arrested development is (in my opinion) the best show in television history. it was cancelled after 3 short seasons and is not well known, but this show is a true gem. with great talent including Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, David Cross and Jeffory Tambor, hilarious naration by Ron Howard and some of the best writing possible. this is for more intelligent veiwers and fans of Seinfeld, Curb Your enthusiasm and Scrubs, but no show quite compares to this. with great characters like failing magician Gob, hopeless Doctor turned actor Tobias and panic attack mothers boy ridden Buster. season 1 and 3 are amazing too, but this is the best, as it's home to Mrs.featherbottom and some of the funniest lines in history, including 'oh your the marraige expert, oh wait i forgot, YOUR WIFE IS DEAD!' 'we shan't be telling your mother about this shan't we' and probably the funniest scene in history involving a man ('tobias' or david cross) dressed as mrs.featherbottom, or an exact copy of mrs.doubtfire, the second floor, an umbrella, a table and a jump and the greatest physical comedic moment ever. this show needs recognition so i encourage you to buy the dvd sets and you will not be dissapointed. maybe if you buy the dvd's enough it'll return, so spread the word of arrested development, and make sure you don't miss out on the best show in history and spread the word. 'we shall be telling your friends about this, shall we?'

There's not much i can say that hasn't been said already. This show is fabulous. I love how each character is so different and quirky, and i struggle to have a favourite. George-Michael with his try-to-please attitude, his unforgettable girlfriend Bland and his secret crush on Maeby. Who as it happens has conned her way into a job in a movie studio (Marry me!) Lucille's ongoing love triangle with George and Oscar, Gob's struggle to be recognized as a magician and, of course, Buster!
If you're looking for something that's not your run of the mill comedy but will have you laughing just as much, this is for you. The humour here can be quite subtle, and you can sometimes miss it altogether til the next time you watch it. There's very little slapstick (though i just love it when Tobias is "blue" and follows Lindsay, using his disguise to blend in with his surroundings!) Love this, it's definitely one to be watched a few times.

This is not an over the top comment from a fan. It received critical reviews and won many illustrious Emmy awards. It is very witty and well written and most important extremely funny. It is most similar to an English style of sitcom. Its an original witty American sitcom with no laughter track. This is bliss. All the actors and actress are brillant and stick to thier hilarious characters. Every one of the family cast memeber have a good shout for being your favourite charcter. Its not a one man show. This has all the ingredients in order to make a great sitcom and has been combined in a sublime manner.
SO WHATEVER YOU DO, MAKE SURE THAT YOU BUY THIS DVD. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

"This is truly the greatest comedy known to mankind" is a phrase that is used too often these days, but this is truly the greatest comedy known to mankind. Series 1 was painfully funny and series 2 keeps up the standard. In Season 2, GOB becomes the new Bluth Company president, George Snr hides out in the attic at the model home, Buster has his hand bitten off by a loose seal, George Michael starts dating some girl whose name I can never remember and Tobias(my favourite character) joins the Blue Man Group and dresses up as Mrs. Featherbottom to get closer to Lindsay. You'll love it.
I really cannot believe that a show of such wit and originality, a show so spectacularly scripted and acted, a show that has been critically acclaimed by every critic and his mother, a show with a blue, never-nude named Tobias in it, has been cancelled after just 3 seasons. American audiences must have been confused by the exposure to real comedy that AD inflicted on them. Maybe they were just frightened by the absence of canned laughter to guide them through a tv show.
There have been protests and petitions to bring back this monumental show, but they are unlikely to succeed. The only thing we can do is buy the DVDs and hope for the "Family Guy Effect" to reoccur. So many people bought Family Guy DVDs all around the world that Fox brought it back from cancelation. Keep buying and maybe Fox will be the ones to say, "I've made a huge mistake."
