If He Dies.... He Dies - Reviewed on 2005-01-11

I'm possibly the biggest Rocky fan there is and I was so happy when the first game came out, it had its good points and it's bad but still a great game. So i was even more excited to hear Rocky Legends was coming out, complete with a career mode for each Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang, Ivan Drago and Rocky Balboa.

Now don't get me wrong, it's a great game but there isn't much too it if you own the first one. Sure you have a career for every boxer (minus Tommy Gunn) but I can't help but feel that all the careers lack storyline. Each one kicks off with a nice little bit of story but then you have 23-24 fights with no story to it, until your final fight.. a bit disapointing.

Another gripe with the game is the terrible voice overs, hearing Drago with a high pitched voice is quite laughable. I'd rather they kept him silent and just used the movie quotes for the story sections. He never spoke in the movies anyway. Apollo doesn't sound too bad, Rocky is not bad either but i'm sick of hearing people who THINK they sound like Mr.T.

There are some great extras too the game, but once again another annoying flaw is the characters statistics. If you watch the movies you'll see Drago is easily the strongest hitter.. yet he's level with everybody minus Creed. And yet again Tommy is the best of the game, minus Rocky.. which is ridiculous. Any Rocky fan can see he's not that good in the movies, he may have been a real boxer, but his movement was awful as Gunn and he wasn't half as dangerous as Creed, Lang, Drago or Rocky.

If you can see past these flaws, all which were in the first game.. it's a top buy still, as the fun is increased in the game. Also if you've always wanted to destroyed millions of nobodies as Drago.. like myself, this game is for you.

They don't call it legends for nothing! Prior to this game i wasn't really a fan of rocky, i bought it at the same time as fifa 2005 and i didnt touch fifa for days, i then went on to buy the rocky anthology, also worth a buy!. this game grabs you from the start and has amazing replayability, you will be on this game for hours fighting as Balboad, Creed, Lang and Drago in career mode or one of 30+ boxers in survival/knockout mode.

Buy it!

Well comparing this to the original version, there's not really a lot of difference.

Ok improved graphics, as you'd expect.

You now get extra strength and speed when building up large combos, and fury when your on your health is low.

The addition of the training games is all well and good, but doesn't actually aid your character in the main game.

If you've got rocky 1 then your not really gonna get a lot more out of buying this game, but if your just bored of the original then it's worth a look
