The first Jak & Daxter game was a fairly straightforward Rare-esque platformer, but the second game expanded the concept considerably to become a sort of cartoon style Grand Theft Auto. This third game removes some of the more unnecessary diversions of Jak II to become a more enjoyably focused action adventure. The actual story follows on directly and sees Jak and Daxter banished to the Wastelands--a massive game world more than five times the size of Haven City from the last game.
Although they are less prevalent than last time there are a dozen different vehicles to pilot and plenty of upgradeable weapons. Perhaps the most important new gameplay feature though is Jak's new light eco form, to balance out the dark eco powers from Jak II. In light eco form Jak grows a pair of angelic wings and gains the power to regain lost health and even freeze enemies in time (and yes, it does work a bit like bullet time).
For fans of the series, or those just looking for a fun, modern-thinking platformer, this series is definitely going out on a high. --David Jenkins
then Jak 2 came out, i played and completed the game, i was amazed, what an improvement from the previous snoze fest! Then the ultimate conclusion sequel hit the shelves, Jak 3.
Banished to the wasteland for crimes against the people of haven city (currently under attack by enemy forces.) Jak stumbles onto the lost city of Spargus, Jak and Daxter uncover a fiendish plot to desroy the world. You might think, "What a scam!" but play the game, then just see if you can say it again. This game boasts an all new vehicle concept as a wastelander named Kleiver allows you to use some of special, extremly well armed desert terrain vehicles. Not only do you get the 4 old weapons from the previous game, but you can aquire monsterous upgraded versions of them. Example... peace maker, Mass inverter and the Super nova! You can get up to 12 weapons in the game. Not to mention your biggest weapon, yourself. Those who played Jak 2 will know that Jak has an evil companion, named DARK JAK! As you play as dark Jak, you can use 4 different powers with him, they are: The dark bomb, the spin shock, invisability and the dark pummel! Also, slow down time, replenish healh, form energy sheilds and even fly! Simply by playing as the all new light Jak! If you complete the game, don't think it's all over. Embark on a new quest by playing hero mode. Hero mode allows you to play a harder version of the game from the start while keeping all of your weapons and armour upgrades! Thats my view, whats yours!?
