I loved this game! This was the first 'point and click' game I had ever played so I wasn't sure what to expect. All the reviews of the game had said how creepy and atmospheric it was but to be honest, as a seasoned horror film watcher, I was dubious as to how scary this game could possibly be. However, within minutes of starting the game not only was I completely hooked but I was also feeling ever so slightly apprehensive at exploring the hotel. The creepy whispers down the phone, that horrible violin playing, the doors opening by themselves and the footsteps in the corridors all add to the general feeling of unease that you get when playing this game. Building up the story through the letters left behind by the guests and employees of the hotel really built up the story and whet the appetite. The puzzles were sufficiently difficult in that I didn't solve them straight away yet with a little time and thought spent on them I could get to the solution without having to consult walkthroughs. The hotel is big and the rooms are interesting to explore which stopped any boredom. The end of the game was really good, and if you were paying attention to the clues all the way through the game then defeating the evil was possible without failing too many times! I would advise saving often though upon entering the passage in the cellar. Overall, I absolutely loved this game and have not stopped recommending it since.

The graphics, story and game play on this game are very good but i am afraid I didn't play very much of it, it was just too scary!!! So if you like tingling down your spine, your hairs standing on end, and thinking your about to be murdered everytime you hear a noise then you will love this but sadly i'm too soft and could not play.

The most terrifying experience I've had on a computer game. I made the mistake of playing this at night and I scared myself to bits! Its so eery, the music really scary and ghostly voices and apparitions coming and going. Really good point and click game though. If you get easily scared though, I would recommend playing it in the day time when its light!

Fans of either good ghost stories, or detective style puzzle games will love this chilling little thriller from the makers of 'Lights Out'. An eerie, rundown group of buildings (set in rural England) are haunted by a plethora of sad spooks, and lonely souls. Exploring the desolate rooms, and solving puzzles as you go, reveals that something truly strange has been happening in the hotel, for many centuries. You have one night to unravel the mystery and free the souls who may remain trapped forever by the Dark Fall! Good fun for Halloween, or nights alone with the PC.

Ok - showing my age now. I stumbled across this game a while back and quiet conicidentally after watching a DVD re-run of an old sci-fi/fantasy TV series called Sapphire and Steele (starring David Mcallum as Steele and Joanna Lumley as Sapphire).
My girlfreind and I couldn't help noticing similarities between this game and an episode called "Assignment 2". In fact when I re-played the DVD and then looked at the game, I found out the train station and rooms, sounds and even posters on the wall are recreated in quite faithful detail. Reading up on the net discovered that the creators of the game unashamedly state that they tried to recreate the eirie atmostphere of the Sapphire and Steele episode.
Having played the game, I can confirm they have done quite a job. If you are a fan of nostalgic TV series like Sapphire and Steel, then give this a try.
