I have owned this film on video for many years and quite happily watch it over and over. You really do feel for the main character, Toby, as she searches for her prince charming. It's the ultimate chick-flick and is very cheesy and totally 80's, but thats exactly why you will love it. I recommend buying this.

THIS MOVIE IS AN ABSOLUTE CLASSIC AND A MUST HAVE FOR ANY COLLECTION. Nobody I know have ever heard of this film, but after they saw it they agreed with me, that it is a lovely, romantic, fairytale of a movie. Jamie Gertz and the lovely Dylan McDermott provide a lot of entetainment. Very funny and sweet. I recommend this dvd to all amazon shoppers!!! ENJOY!

I must admit, I really really love romances. Romance books, romance movies...anything sweet, lovely and romantic.
So, a couple of nights ago, unable to sleep and bored, I stuck the TV on and 'Jersey Girl' had just started.
I was quickly enchanted by Toby (protagonist), who believed that she would some day, find true love... and (duh!) she did.
But the man she had fallen in love with wasn't prepared to lose everything he had worked so hard to get, just for some working class Jersey girl.

This movie was quite touching (I cried twice) and even funny at some points, you can even look above the really REALLY bad hair styles and no fashion sense.
The main draw back is that the charcters are miming and Toby has very skinny legs...which look kind of sick.

I tuned into this film late one night after a drunken celebration of exam results and expected it to be merely a way to pass the time until the room stopped spinning! Not so! I was pleasantly surprised by this endearing romance with engaging performances by the two leads and great support from the actresses playing Toby's friends providing both humour and pathos. A special mention must also be made of the costumes (Barbie would have loved that pink dress!) and the fantastic over-sized accessories and nail extensions so evocative of the era. A great film to watch with your girlie mates with a bottle of wine, though be prepared to shout "where's your copy of The Rules" girl!?" at the screen! The final scene is a masterpiece of cinematic cheese, the perfect finale to a now kitch-seeming take on the tale of Cinderella. Fabulous!
