Surprisingly better than Croc Dundee in LA - Reviewed on 2008-02-28

The one thing that has stuck with me from this film is the 'phone call' Mick makes in the outback. It is beautiful and haunting and an image that has stayed with me . When I think of Croc Dundee I think of the beautiful cinematography in that shot. I bought it for that reason...and that it was very cheap. As for the film it is an enjoyable romp. It is not as good as the original but it is different in tone (more like romancing the stone) and I think the filmmakers should be commended fro not rehashing the original.

This is one of those films that I watch every time it shows up on TV. Even though it isn't as good as the first one, there is just something about this re-hashed sequel. The plot is weak but I still go along with it; the lead character has no basis in reality but I still root for him; the comedy is pretty lame but I always laugh (especially the `I don't need a gun, I've got a Donk' scene); the villains aren't memorable or scary but I still hate them, the lead actress isn't particularly fanciable but I'd still do her; and the `twist' ending is telegraphed several minutes before it happens but I still feel relived when the Aborigine says `Course not, there's Mick over there'. Crocodile Dundee II will never make anyone's favourite films list, and I certainly wouldn't put it on mine, but...well, they show Apocalypse Now, and The Searchers, and Lawrence of Arabia on TV, and though they are all classics, I don't feel I have to watch them. But I always have to watch Crocodile Dundee II.

I recently watched (reluctantly) this movie in a friends house and i have to say i enjoyed it. It is a movie of two parts. The first part deals with Mick Dundee (Hogan) trying to rescue his missus from kidnappers in N.Y. where he endures New York street scum - drug dealers, muggers, transvestites, and prostitutes.

The second half (the best half) of the movie is set in the Australian outback. The action is believeable and the script is funny. Croc Dundee 2 is a timeless classic.
Better than the original? I think so! - Reviewed on 2004-02-17

Excellent sequel to the original, and also manages to be different too. Whereas the first Dundee movie was pure, light hearted comedy, 'Crocodile Dundee 2' takes on a darker and more gritty tone, with the occasional comedic scenes thrown in (especially when the action moves to Australia). I cant understand why this film always gets poor reviews, to me its the best Dundee movie and a lot, lot better than the poor 'Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles' that was to follow.
