Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions

Amazon.co.uk Review

The young composer of the Alias Soundtrack, Michael Giacchino, has created works that range across a dizzying range of musical styles and dramatic undercurrents. This anthology of cues from the show's first season incorporates shrewd, techno-savvy club beats, sweeping orchestral sequences of pounding action, brooding suspense worthy of Bond and inventive ethnic music of indeterminate nationality. Firmly grounded in rich Hollywood traditions, yet hip enough to keep an ear cocked to pulsing, contemporary styles, Giacchino's TV scores often outshine those of the pricier, big budget Hollywood boilerplate he's competing with. --Jerry McCulley, Amazon.com

An amazing soundtrack! - Reviewed on 2004-05-29

An essential purchase for Alias fans! This is the soundtrack to the first season, and unlike the soundtracks of other popular shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the soundtrack does not contain songs featured in the show but the actual score.
The composer, Michael Giacchino, is extremely talented and has worked closely with the show's creator JJ Abrams to produce a staggeringly high standard of music to accompany the show. Just like Alias, the music is fast, emotive and very memorable.
There are a great number of styles featured, from the unrelenting techno beat of "Red Hair is Better", to the intricate salsa of "Spanish Heist", Giacchino has gone to great lengths to produce a score which is sophisticated, cinematic and epic, while remaining edgy and refreshingly modern. The fusion of these styles is combined with a wide variety of different cultural influences, from Spain to Germany to Tunisia, all of which sound both authentic and original.
I think this is an essential purchase for anyone who enjoys Alias, as the music is so recognisable and reminds the listener of some really wonderful moments, but also for music lovers because it is of such a high quality, being an incredible treat to listen to as well as infusing a sweeping techno score with emotion. A highly recommended purchase.

Hearing that the "Alias" soundtrack was to be released, I was very pleased. However, my expectations were not particularly high. I was expecting a fair few vocal tracks, and for the score tracks, I predicted that it would have a highly synthesised sound.

I, of course, was wrong. This album captures the essence of the television series and more. Not only does it contain the brilliant high-beat tracks well known on the show, but the intimate leitmotif tracks for Sydney etc.

This is a must buy, if you enjoy the music from "Alias". Favourite tracks of mine, include, "Dissolved" and "Bristow and Bristow" - both very thrilling!

Yay! Alias has arrived!

This CD is soo good. Every track has a different feel to it, but with the same underlying exciting beat that really makes it! The music helps to conjure up all the excititng scenes in the series. My favourites are Red hair and the epic 5 minute Badenweiler. This really is a must for fans of the show and i would reccommend it to anyone who enjoys some good fastmoving interesting music because it really has some great tracks!

At last, the moment many Alias fans (including myself) have been waiting for. The fantastic, amazing Alias soundtrack is finally released on CD! The show is fantastic but without this soundtrack it would be nothing. The music uses different styles throughout out as the main character jets off to different locations on missions and the different countries music are really put across well. Fantastic!
