The first Ratchet & Clank game was the best action platformer the PS2 had had, and now the dynamic duo are back in Ratchet & Clank 2: Locked and Loaded (hastily resubtitled for the UK after the developers realised that the original Going Commando might imply an entirely different kind of game experience).

After becoming rather bored with their lot in the aftermath of their victory in the last game, the now not-so reluctant heroes are hired as bounty hunters to track down the stolen Protopet, which looks like the world's cutest pet but is actually something more sinister. Well, not really sinister, because it's still cute as a button, but definitely dangerous.

Although the graphics and controls have had an overhaul for this sequel, the developers have wisely realised that the thing everyone enjoyed most from the first game is the huge number of weapons you get to use. There are 20 new ones to play with now, but interestingly nearly all of them can be upgraded and customised for different features and more power. Not only that but the new role-playing element even extends to Ratchet himself--he can improve his own abilities as he goes.

As well as all that the game has got even more variety than before, with tons of mini-games including hoverbike races and spaceship dogfights. There are also a lot more levels in which you get to control Clank in his gigantic killer-robot mode. It might not be all that original but it's fun and good looking and has a surprisingly witty script. All in all, it's top stuff. --David Jenkins

I read the reviews on this game, I bought this game, and for some reason I just didn't enjoy it. I can see why people like this game but for me it's certainly no Crash Bandicoot and I found it a waste of money. Not as good as the competition, granted it has very good graphics, but this could have been a lot better. A disappointment.

this game is the BEST, and I mean it. You get tons of cool weapons too, like the Grenade Launcher, and the Visibomb.

The story is easy to follow, understandable for all ages and its packed with action and gadgets to keep everyone busy. If there is ever a "Best Game Award", this would win. :)

I love these games - if you liked the first one, you can't go wrong!! The levels are more varied, bigger and fun, with lots of mini games, hoverbike races, space shoot em ups within the game! Also lots more weapons, ship upgrades, more fun things to blow up and improves on second play through where there are even MORE weapons to be upgraded, fun stuff to unlock and bolts to be collected! Great value for money.

Just as with the original, this is a great fun game and well worth getting. It has improved significantly graphically, and the length of the game is better, as it now takes longer to complete. If it's anything like the original, however, it will be so addictive that even when I have competed it, I will still come back to it to have another go.

as i opened the paper on christmas day,i thought please be ratchet and clank 2 please.to my delight it was and i couldnt wait to play it.so instead of opening the rest of my presents on the best time of the year,i went and started to play on r and c 2 and boy was it worth it!!!!!
everything about it is absolutely fantastic, the gameplay ,the graphics,the lifespan and not to mention the cool new weapons and gadgets.over 20 new bits of equipment to suit your every need.overall i think anyone should buy it-officially the best game ever-and trust me,i have a lot of games.well worth buying it.so what are you waiting for ,go buy it now!!!!!!!!
