SSX is a lot different to all the other snowboarding games out there such as Amped. SSX throws away realism and instead focuses on massive tricks, imaginative courses and high speed. I personally love the arcadey feel to the game and simplicity of controls, but if you are after a more serious game this may not be the one for you.
The parts I love the most are the new ability to explore the mountain at will and find hidden items/challenges. It's great to just cruise with no real goal and see what you can do. Also, I was very impressed by the amount of customisation you can do with the riders. There are hundreds of things to buy and wear, from new boots to skeleton heads.
My main complaint with this game is that you have to build up each rider separatley. If you unlock all the peaks with Kaori (the cutest rider!), you still have to do it all for the rest of the riders. This extends the gameplay, but makes it very repetitive. However, if you want to play a 2 player game with maxed out character stats, you must earn all those stats for each of the riders you will use. This took me about 12 hours for each rider!
Despite these flaws, this is still an excellent game that is fun for quick blasts or when you have your mates over. See you on the peak!
ssx3 vs 1080 avalanch
gameplay- ok so your nicly going down the mountain doing a couple of tricks but you seam to forget you racing people because your mind switches off now compaired to 1080 you rush down the course going so fast the camera shakes constantly aware that one error and the computer will fly past you.
course design- ssx3 is all over the place half the time you have no idea where you are where as 1080 has nice tight courses that are extreamly well layed out.
graphics- when playing ssx it looked like it wasnt quite finished, 1080 is spot on
avalanches- the avalanches in ssx are good as long as you dont play 1080. in ssx a bit of snow chases you for a short time,in 1080 its just like that bit in XXX where vin desil snow boards down a avalanch one error and the screen will be ingolfed with snow also 1080 has rock slides and earthquakes.
ok so ssx3 is a good game but i would chose 1080 over it any day
