The sixth series of Buffy the Vampire Slayer followed the logic of plot and character development into some gloomy places. The year begins with Buffy being raised from the dead by the friends who miss her, but who fail to understand that a sacrifice taken back is a sacrifice negated. Dragged out of what she believes to have been heavenly bliss, she finds herself "going through the motions" and entering into a relationship with the evil, besotted vampire Spike just to force her emotions.

Willow becomes ever more caught up in the temptations of magic; Xander and Anya move towards marriage without ever discussing their reservations; Giles feels he is standing in the way of Buffy's adult independence; Dawn feels neglected. What none of them need is a menace that is, at this point, simply annoying--three high school contemporaries who have turned their hand to magical and high-tech villainy. Added to this is a hungry ghost, an invisibility ray, an amnesia spell and a song-and-dance demon (who acts as rationale for the incomparable musical episode "Once More With Feeling").

This is a year in which chickens come home to roost: everything from the villainy of the three geeks to Xander's doubts about marriage come to a head, often--as in the case of the impressive wedding episode--through wildly dark humour. The estrangement of the characters from each other--a well-observed portrait of what happens to college pals in their early 20s--comes to a shocking head with the death of a major character and that death's apocalyptic consequences. The series ends on a consoling note which it has, by that point and in spite of imperfections, entirely earned. --Roz Kaveney

Well this season for me wasent its best it sarted off good when buffys friends would bring her back from the dead in bargaining part 1 & 2 after that it went a little down hill with its lack of action.


But the best storylines for this seaaon would be willow becoming addicted ti ,agic and ending up loosing her relationship with tara she decides she needs help to stop using magic then as she is getting better tragedy strikes when warran kills tara ans willow wants her revenge . The season came up again when willow and buffy had a showdown after willoe sets out for revenge on warran 'two to go was a goosd episode for the first time ever ew eould see buffy face off woth her old friend in order to try and help her the battle eas great between them@Grave the season final giles returns to help willow but she sets off to destroy the world.


The spike buffy relationship was a bit anoying as it was way to focused on them two sleeping together then actualy facing demons apart from willows stoty i would say that this season was very different from the earlier ones .

Compared to the other seasons, this season has the best script, acting and storylines yet.

The musical was a great episode that gave light to some of the dark storylines that came before and after it, until the end when Buffy reveals that Willow (who raised her from the dead in the first part of the episode Bargaining) pulled her from Heaven.

Other storylines like Riley and his wife returning, Amy being de-ratted, Buffy and Spikes lust, Willow and Tara breaking up, the death of Tara and Willows revenge on the trio (the current baddies *cough*Nerds*cough* in this season) were al great plots and kept you on the edge of your seat.

Dis anyone else feel like screaming and punching Warren and Andrew? UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH they got on my nerves so much this season, which was good because they were meant too.

The extra's were also very good. The actors and actresses have imoroved so much since season 5 making the season trully spectacular!!!

I'm probably one of the few people who'll review this season as Buffy going seriously downhill. For me, the show went into some dark places it should never have gone - the whole Buffy / Spike thing for one.

At the start of the season, the gang are trying to deal with Buffy's death - so things aren't exactly happy. Willow begins her downward spiral into dark magic - with a fantastic conclusion, it has to be said. The geek trio just don't do it for me, though - I began to feel that the show had lost its way.

The whole Giles character arc didn't feel right either - and I'm not just being sore about him being gone for most of the season. I simply don't agree that he'd just go under those circumstances. The whole premise of it being for Buffy's own good doesn't fit; nor does labelling their relationship as "father/daughter" entirely work - it was more complicated than that.

So what's good? The first few episodes are great; Once More with Feeling and Tabula Rasa are wonderful; the final episode is brilliant. The DVD extras, particularly the Once More With Feeling commentary and Behind The Scenes featurette are excellent and in my opinion make the season worth owning.

I just didn't get the same buzz from this season as from the others. At least Xander and Anya bring some comedy relief to a very bleak season.

Firstly let us clear some issues up here about BUFFY on DVD you SHOULD know that Buffy is a 4:3 ratio designed show which 16:9 hurts not improves and that Joss Whedon has made it very clear that the framing of Buffy is correct in 4:3 and incorrect
in so-called widescreen.

Region 2 is 50hz and thus the show runs 4 per cent fast and alters everyone's voices and the tone/pitch of music and the pacing of the action. This is why I buy all my feature films including European films and all US TV shows on Region 1 which is in fact the superior quality medium.

The only weak spot is the musical episode which did not get anamorphic widescreen which that one episode needs as it was not made like the others. But as for the rest the Region 1, 4:3, 60hz masters are the correct version and superior in quality to the Region 2.

Only the uneducated buy American shows encoded in the European 50hz format. Why do you not want it in its original native form of 60hz.?

Season six of Buffy has got to be the best ever season. First Buffy returns from the dead, then theres a musical episode, plus to finish the season Willow goes all cool and evil after the depart of Tara. I would give this season 10/10 cauase its the best!!

Episodes:-

Bargaining parts 1 and 2 - The gang brings Buffy back from the dead.

Afterlife - Buffy has to battle a demon that may have hitched a ride from one dimention to our one.

Flooded - While Buffy adjusts to life a teenage trio, Andrew, Warren and Jonathan band together.

Life serial - The trio starts to torment Buffy in different ways to become a thret.

All the way - On Halloween Dawn gets her first kiss with a vampire, Xander tells the gang he is getting married to Anya and Willow and Tara have a fight over magic.

Once more with felling - In the musical episode everyone throughout Sunnydale cant stop singing and dacing!!

Tabula Ralsa - One of Willows spells goes wrong causing everyone to lose their memory. It ends with Willow and Tara braking up, Giles moving back to England and Buffy snogging Spike!

Smashed - Willow turns Amy the rat into a person again, the trio steal diamands from the museum and Buffy and Spike have an upforgetable night together!

Wrecked - Amy gets Willow addicted to black magic, while Buffy and Spike talk about the night before.

Gone - The Trio makes a invesability ray to turn Buffy invisable! Plus a social worker threatens to take Dawn away from Buffy.

Doublemeat Palace - Buffy needs money so she ends up working ant the doublemeat place, however she suspects that the secreat ingrediant is actually Human flesh!!

Dead Things - The Trio accidently kill a girl but try to pi the balme on Buffy somehow.

Older and far away - On Buffy's birthday, her and her friends are trapped in her house and believe that Dawn knows why.

As you were - Buffy's old boyfreiend Riley comes to tpwn with his wife!! And Riley finds out what Buffy has been doing with Spike.

Hells Bells - On Anya's and Xander's wedding, Xanders futre self comes to ruin everything.

Normal again - The trio unleash a demon on buffy that makes her think thet Sunneydale and her fiemds our figmants of her imagination.

Entropy - Anya comes back to town to town with vengence on her mind, but ends up hurting Xander in a way she never thought of before. Everyone then finds out about Buffy and Spike's relationship.

Seeing red - The trio embrace on a crime spree when Warren becomes mighty mouse. Willow and Tara get back together again. Andrew and Jonathen finally get put in jail, but Warren gets free and goes to Buffy's house with a gun. Spike then leaves town

Villians - After Tara's death Wilow goes straight to the balck arts to track down Warren and kill him.

Two to go - Dark Willow goes after Andrew and Johnathen as she thinks they were involved. Buffy and Willow end up having a huge fight in the magic box, but then someone comes back from England with borowed power!!

Grave - Giles tries to bring Willow down and make her back the way she was without killing her. But Dark Willow sucks all the magic from him and sets out to destroy the world by buring it down to the core. Will anyone be able to save the earth and bring Willow back to her old self!!
