Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions

Amazon.co.uk Review

Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb is Harrison Ford's video game comeback. While Lara Croft should hardly be concerned by Indy's return, Activision certainly has an enjoyable game on its books. As you'd expect, Emperor's Tomb pitches Indiana Jones into a world of archaeology, intrigue and Nazis. It's 1935 and there's a Chinese artefact to be found pronto--lest Nazi or Chinese gangs get hold of it first and use its mysterious powers to aid their evil schemes.

Along the way, Jones scraps it out with those opposed to his expedition; and, in true platforming style, he makes daring leaps across voids as he runs through areas. Okay, it is a fairly predictable state of affairs, but it's well paced and quite challenging. Fans of the films will find Emperor's Tomb especially satisfying, thanks to its faithful recreation of Indiana Jones' distinctive world: it looks and sounds just like the films, and Ford in digital form is the spit of his real self.

Emperor's Tomb has a broad appeal. It's sufficiently engaging--particularly during passages of combat--to appeal to older players. But the adventure is linear in nature and is therefore easy for younger gamers to play without becoming lost or frustrated. Whatever your age, if you're a fan of Indiana Jones, take note: this is easily the best video game interpretation of the blockbuster movies yet. --Jonti Davies

Indiana Jones And The Sacred Way To Make A Movie-tie-in. - Reviewed on 2007-05-12

I bought this game preowned about a year after it's release and man am I glad I did. I hadn't been that impressed with the previous Indiana game (The Infernal Machine for the PC) because he could not fight unarmed, something which he does a lot more than shooting! Also the puzzles were a little too frustrating.

However I got this for my ancient and beloved PS2 and was hooked from the word go. The only complaint is that the graphics are not that good (near N64 in places) but the gameplay will distract you from that. This time he can fight unarmed, which is what I did a majority of the time and a nice little touch is that if Indy takes so many beatings at once his hat falls off but doesn't fade away leaving you to pick it up! The puzzles, although hard thinking at times, are not so frustrating you feel like putting your head through the door Jack Nicholson style. Another nice touch is if you knock an enemy into a shark or beast infected water, they get gobbled up (from what I remember vaguely) by them!

As I said the graphics could've done with a bit more polish but the gameplay is brilliant. Get it!

I think this game is very good and is great fun playing but,... you can't save the game whenever you want to!! You have to complete the entire mission before the game auto-saves.
This can be very frustrating if you 'die' near the end of a mission so have to start right at the beginning again.
However, I would still recommend it to anyone - the graphics, storyline and gameplay are brilliant.

I bought this game because I am a big time fan of Indy. The main character looks like Indy and even sounds like him,the music is exactly the same as in the movies and you even get the famous whip!
The game though is like playing another Tomb Raider title but without Lara and without really good puzzles. The controls are easy to learn, and the character motion is very good especially when fighting. The graphics on the other hand are looking outdated, but still the locations look nice and they give you a pretty good feel of the era.
The levels are quite linear, meaning there aren't many ways to go. There is only one way and after a while it gets a little bit of a bore. Sure there are some puzzles envolved but they are pretty easy to figure out.
The whole expirience though feels like Indy. I just wish it had better graphics and a little bit more hard puzzles to solve
If you are a Indy fan buy it. Its fun.

I bought this game after reading the customers reviews here at amazon because I thought it was well rated and looked interesting.
Overall I must say that the graphics, playabibity, storyline and differents moves of this game are good (I will not say "excellente" though). It is a typical Indiana Jones story like the films and you will enjoy it for this (you will love to use the whip...).
But I must be objective and honest with you : Dispite its many levels (most of them short) this game is very easy to complete and might bore you at times. It might be an exciting challenge for the very young gamers only.
If you consider to buy it, I advise you to select the game on "hard play" and maybe only you will find this game a challenge (if it is challenge you are after).
I would rate this game 8 out of 10.
