Editorial Reviews and Product Descriptions

A collection of curiously compelling recordings brought together for the first time, summarising the talents of two artists who hold cult status in the worlds of both television and music. Spock sings, Kirk raps. Surreal soliloquies, mad monologues, peculiar parlance are all here. William Shatner (Captain Kirk) performs a bewildering collision of Bob Dylan, Shakespeare and The Beatles, narrated over a strangely disconnected free for all culled from his 1968 album The Transformed Man. Discover his staggering interpretations of "Mr Tambourine Man" and "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds". Leonard Nimoy (Spock) performs an astounding collection of lounge croons--"Where Is The Love?", "Everybody's Talkin"--and Spock standards--"Highly Illogical", "Music To Watch Space Girls By". An essential purchase for both Trekkies and connoisseurs of musical exotica. --F.B.Hawkes

Words fail me. Listen to William Shatner decaliming Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and marvel if you are on a bad acid trip yourself. Shatner is...well...let's say special. Nimoy on the other hand actually sings reasonably well, sometimes using his Spock alter ego. Truly a life changing experience.

This is nothing like the genius record with Ben Folds other than it William Shatner's voice, however it still pretty good and Leonard Nimoy was the one who in those times had the talent with his Bob Dylan style country folk songs which are in there own right mini creations of light hence there only being a few Shatner songs, if your like me and only interested in Shanter's style and grace in taking on other songs and somehow make them sound like a loved one passing, then buy "Tramformed Man" and you better already have "Has Been" because that is one of the best records ever made.
Style : Mostly Folk then Shatner Sceaming "LUCY IN THE SKY" Class.

This album has blown me and my mate Ryan McDonald out of the water. This is a great album to play when you are getting ready to go out to chess club. Ryan my friend and me like to listen to this when we go train spotting together and also when we are studying chess masters. Ryan played this at his cousins party and the girls loved us and thought how cool we were. I have this on my walkman and I love to listen when I go into the forest to do some bird watching. This is an epic artifact of ego over talent. I shall be seeking out a copy of the Transformed Man as soon as I finish this review. To be fair to both parties Shatner knew he could not sing a note, so he avoided any trace of melody whatsoever, and Nimoy has at times, he could sing, done a creditable job on a number of songs.

Highlights for me are the Shatner tracks "King Henry the Fifth", "It was a very good Year", the most amazing(I use the term without any exaggeration at all) version of "Lucy in the sky with Diamonds", Nimoys tracks "Highly Illogical" and "Spock Thoughts".

A must buy for those who love the exotic/strange/brave with the heart of a lion/John Zorn/Star Trek or those who wish to hear the most amazing destruction of a Beatles song.
Pure panto! Sing-a-long a spock. It'll cheer you up. - Reviewed on 2005-12-01

This is REAL music, a true piece of art. You will want to sing along to songs that before you never new you liked. At the same time it challenges your perception of what is good music.

Bill's "It was a very good year is a fine comic interlude", but
personally I much prefered Nimmoy's deep flat singing voice to Shatner's ham acting style. With 18 Nimmoy tracks I'm not complaining though.

Its said Mozart never wrote a wrong note, and that's why this is so, so much better than Mozart.

Nimmoy and Shatner don't shy away for letting loose and enjoying themselves and its positively infectious. There is plenty of invention and variation throughout.

I recommend this to all fun-loving adults.
... and if you're not a fun loving person, then sit back, keep listening and you soon will be.
