Every recipe my partner and I have tried from this book has been a success and we have both lost weight and feel great too.We're both in our late 50's and feel full of Vitality and would recommend this book without reservation.

If you want a cook book with some great recipes then this is for you. However if you want to do a low GI diet then this book is very misleading. Some of the recipes use sugar and not always in small amounts, others use honey. I just opened the book at random to write this and found a recipe for scones which uses white flour and demerera sugar which will send your blood sugar rocketing and a load of high calorie dried fruit with little protein to mitigate the fast release carbohydrate. I'm sure they are delicious but they won't help anyone lose weight. The author also recommends fruit juices instead of soft drinks when they have the same effect on blood sugar levels. By following this advice you would probably not lose weight at all. There are better low GI cookbooks on the market and in my opinion you should buy one of them instead.

Some tasty healthy recipes (hence the 2 stars) BUT this book is not for GI purists (hence the missing 3). The majority of the recipes do not follow the principles of only low carbs with protein; or low carbs with medium carbs and no protein. It also permits 'forbidden' high carbs. If you are truly following the GI diet then this book will lead you astray. Disappointing really.

This book is already by far the most used cookery book I have: it's not just about weight loss, but also how to get through the day without reaching for a Mars bar at 4pm for that sugar boost!

The best thing about it is that virtually every meal can be made in under 20 minutes, and you don't have to make your own stock or buy ingredients which you'll hardly ever use. Particular favourites are the chicken chilli chickpea salad, and the asparagus wrapped in parma ham. I did the asparagus for a friend, and she now thinks I'm the next Nigella!

The other useful thing is, if you're taking the GI diet really seriously, you'll find out everything you need to know but were afraid to ask at the start of the book - and thank God for the section on low GI options if you're eating out. At last someone appreciates that you might want to go for a Chinese without being the only one eating a salad!

All in all, a great buy - highly recommended.

This book is nothing short of amazing! The recipes are clear and easy to follow and you really don't feel like you are eating "diet" food. The fruity carrot cake is one of the best fruit cakes I have ever made, the morning muffins are a must for people who don't "do breakfast", the hot jamaican bananas are to die for and the prawn and mango salad is just wonderful. Having been a yo-yo dieter all my life, I have finally found a diet I feel I will be able to stick to forever. It's not like "dieting" at all, fabulous food, amazing flavour combinations and you're even allowed chocolate on occasion - what more can anyone ask for??!!
